Yet despite the glamorous surroundings, she longed for a life beyond the walls of Graceland, and after six years of marriage she decided to leave the man the whole world adored.

The divorce marked the beginning of a journey toward independence – a life as a businesswoman, actress, designer, and political advocate. And between Priscilla and Elvis grew a friendship that sadly ended abruptly with Elvis’s far-too-early death in 1977. Later came several deeply tragic losses among Priscilla’s closest family members. Now, Priscilla steps forward and shares the sorrows and triumphs of her fascinating and eventful life.

PRISCILLA BEAULIEU PRESLEY (b. 1945) married Elvis in 1967 but soon established her own career as a businesswoman, actress (including the TV series Dallas), and producer. As co-founder of Elvis Presley Enterprises, she turned Graceland into an icon and has preserved Elvis’s legacy ever since.

MARY JANE ROSS is an award-winning professor and author known for biographies of Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra, and Ray Charles. Life After Elvis, written with Priscilla Presley, is her ninth biography.
